About Eva

Eva Baaren was born in 1981 in Arnhem, the Netherlands. After high school graduation in 1999, she went to study Communication & Information at Utrecht University, where she specialized in Television and New Media. During her studies, old practices in emerging media and new pratices in existing media became her favorite objects of interest. After having finished her master thesis on the construction of digital interactive television in Flanders and the Netherlands, she worked at the Utrecht department of Information and Computing Sciences, where she taught her students about innovation processes and wrote her dissertation on the diffusion of HDTV. Next to her PhD position, Eva has written for the Dutch HDTV magazine and is a member of the Utrecht Centre for Television in Transition.

Up close & Personal

Eva is a social person, but can also be a bit rebellious. She likes independent film, modern philosophy, cosy pubs, the stories of Toon Tellegen and people that think for themselves. She has been suffering from minor germanophilia and pleas for a better living standard of Germans in the lowlands. Except, of course, when it’s time for soccer.
